  Carmela Castrejón Diego Interdisciplinary visual artist. Internationally her work has exhibited at the Alexandria Bibliotheque, Egypt, Sydney Biennial, Australia, and Venice, Italy. Her photographic essays have shown in Spain, South Africa, Australia, Mexico and U.S.A. Founder and of Factor X, a binational Mexico/USA organization, which focuses on providing services to women from the maquiladora industry. From 1990 to 1995 member of Border Art Workshop/Taller de Arte Fronterizo (BAW/TAF). From 1990 to 1993 member of LAS COMADRES, Tijuana/San Diego. Currently co-chairs on the American Festival Project based in Kentucky, U.S.A.

EXPLORING CALIFORNIA PROGRAM, Global Exchange, San Francisco, California. Coordination, and participation on mural, and "crosses" project.
1998-97 COLEGIO LA ESPERANZA, elementary school, Tijuana, Baja California. Art teacher, first through sixth graders. Developed permanent mosaic mural.
1997 SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM, Austin, Texas. Developed and co- instructed a six week sculpture program.
  COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOL, Harris Elementary, Austin, Texas. Intergenerational Art Workshops, a component of the AISD literacy program, participants 45 to 2 years of age. Mixed media.
  YO GARDEN, Graffiti As Art/3-D, Austin, Texas. Co-directed community mural project, participants involved 65 to 3 year old. Mixed media.
